Duluth is one of the premier locations for observing the Fall migration. Hawk Ridge Bird Observatory provides important bird migration observations, countings and educational activities from the middle of August through late November. There are many activities throughout the fall. On September 15, over 4,000 Broadwing Hawks were counted. The best time to visit Hawk Ridge is whenever the wind is out of the northwest. This type of wind brings the hawks to Lake Superior as they migrate south. For more information, visit: www.hawkridge.org.
